Recycled
Collaboration with Lei Lei (sound Art by Zafka)
Date: 2014
"Recycled" is a video directed by the Beijing-based animation artist Lei Lei, who sewed pictures together at a rate of about eight per second. The same pose, and the same setting, appear over and over, from people perching on a Ronald McDonald statue to proud stances at major destinations. It reveals the surreal imagescape and stupendous depth of the Beijing Silvermine archive, from which Lei Lei selected over 3000 photos. The selected pictures form the basis of this experimental short film. It won the Grand Prix shorts in the category non-narrative at the 2013 Holland International Animation Film Festival.
